I'm Irem Akcan, founder of Ionia Legal Operations. I bring more than 10 years of experience in the legal field, primarily supporting criminal defence counsel, litigation, and appellate matters. My background also includes working as a Judicial Assistant with the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

I understand the work that happens behind every active legal file—from preparing documents and court forms to organizing disclosure, coordinating filings, managing deadlines, and keeping the administrative side of a practice moving. That practical experience allows me to step into a matter, understand what needs attention, and provide dependable support under counsel's direction.

I also focus on improving how legal work gets done. Through Ionia, I help lawyers identify repetitive processes, develop better templates and task systems, and implement practical Microsoft 365, Power Automate, and carefully reviewed AI-assisted workflows.

My approach is straightforward: technology should make legal work clearer and easier to manage—not introduce more complexity.

Based in Edmonton, Alberta, I work remotely with lawyers and small law firms that need experienced, flexible support without adding another full-time position.
